Skidpan and Defensive Driving

This course can also be tailored as a teambuilding event.

South Africa has a very poor road safety record. Education, engineering and law enforcement all play a major role in the road safety situation on South African Roads, but the single most contributing factor is the human factor, which contributes to 80% of collisions on South African roads.

In this course we cover the following aspects of driving conditions

  • Why do you skid?
  • Loss of control
  • Regaining of control
  • Cadence braking
  • Under steer
  • Over steer
  • Front wheel vs Rear Wheel drive correction of a skid

Course Content

The course is structured in two parts

  1. Theory, which takes the form of a presentation
  2. Practical application.  The practical driving is taught on a wet and dry skidpan, in a safe and controlled environment.

Off Road Driving Days

Scorpion College, together with Enigma is a registered training company through SETA. We are registered to offer training under US254135 – Apply the techniques for operating four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, in on-road and off-road conditions.

Guests arrive at the off-road venue, anywhere in South Africa. Tea, Coffee and eats are served.  The head instructor / facilitator will deliver the theory/Introduction to off-road driving, after which we will venture out onto the 4×4 track – accompanied by our instructors.  Here you will have the opportunity to put into practice what you have learnt during the day.

Car Care Course

The care and maintenance of your vehicle is something that should be uppermost in all of our minds.  Vehicles today don’t come cheap and we believe that empowering someone with knowledge about his /her vehicle, allows them to take better care of a prized possession and in some cases may even save their life one day.
